Good-bye Winter

Tomorrow, April 13 is the deadline for vacating our winter site at MacGregor Point Provincial Park.  Judging from the amount of snow still remaining in the park one might think it's March rather than April.

We arrived around 10:45 a.m. yesterday and were able to remove the tarp and supporting structure before sunset.  Today we took down the electrical cables and added air to some of the motorhome tires.  There was rain in the afternoon forecast but fortunately it held off until late evening.

With such heavy snow accumulation in the Park we haven't seen any deer since early December.  However, about 6:30 pm last evening we saw three deer coming down the road toward our camp site.  They entered an adjacent site and a few minutes later appeared at the back of our camp site and started checking out the bird feeders.

Typically we see a mother deer and what appears to be her two female offspring.  The three we saw last evening matched that description, but were noticeably thinner than in December.   Nevertheless, it was good to see that they had survived the harsh winter.

At the moment we have no particular plans other than for a week at Rondeau Provincial Park in mid May.  Looking forward to the spring bird migration coming through the Park.
